Vestas’ EnVentus turbines to power Google and Heineken

Vestas is due to supply 69 turbines from its EnVentus platform for a 404MW wind farm in western Finland that is due to provide power to offtakers including tech giant Google and brewer Heineken.

The manufacturer will build the wind farm for Neoen on an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) basis before handing the project over to the developer after commissioning.

It will also service the turbines for 25 years.

Turbine delivery will take place from 2022, with project commissioning expected in 2023 or 2024.

Once commissioned, Mutkalampi will be one of the largest onshore wind farms in the Nordic region.

There are five offtakers for Mutkalampi, with all buyers signing ten-year deals. Google will buy power from a 125MW portion, while a Dutch consortium of Heineken, Nobian, Philips and Signify signed a deal for a combined 126MW.

Vestas has now received more than 2.9GW of orders for its EnVentus platform globally, including about 1.2GW in Finland.
