Nordex orders bounce back after slow Q1

Nordex had a bumper month for wind turbine orders in April, achieving sales of 551MW, according to information recorded by Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly.

It comes after a poor first quarter, when turbine orders for the German OEM fell 24% year on year. Windpower Intelligence recorded turbine purchase agreements (TPAs) for 118 Nordex units in April.

The standout order came from Turkey, for 39 of the Nordex N133/4800 model, destined for Caba Grup’s 187MW Istanbul II Istanbul II (187MW) Onshoreİstanbul, Turkey, Middle East & Africa Click to see full details wind farm. Delivery is scheduled for late summer 2021.

In Finland, 12 of the N163/5.X turbines will be supplied to Energiequelle’s 28.5MW Takanebacken Takanebacken (28.5MW) OnshoreMalax, Finland, Europe Click to see full details and 39.9MW Torvenkylä Torvenkylä (39.9MW) OnshoreKalajoki, Finland, Europe Click to see full details projects. Another Finnish order was for 17 N163/5.X turbines heading to Wpd’s 96.9MW Nuolivaara Nuolivaara (96.9MW) OnshoreKemijärvi, Finland, Europe Click to see full details project in Lapland. All three projects are due online in 2022.

Twenty Nordex N117/3600 will make their way to Germany, while five N133/4.8 turbines and three N117/3675 models will be supplied to a project in the Netherlands. And 11 of the N155/4.X turbines will be supplied to a site in the north of Spain. 

Nordex’s Delta 4000 series, with power ratings of 4MW and above, accounted for 468MW, or 85% of the April orders.
