First tests conducted on 10 MW Dieng geothermal plant
Geo Dipa Energi conducted first tests of its new small-scale 10 MW Dieng geothermal power plant in Central Java with start of commercial operations imminent.
Indonesian state-owned geothermal developer and operator PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) announces having conducted a First Blow Small Scale event as a trial phase before the 10 MW Dieng Small Scale Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) officially operates. The activity was carried out in the PLTP Small Scale area located in Siterus Hamlet, Sikunang Village, Kejajar Subdistrict, Wonosobo Regency, on Thursday, April 22, 2021, so the company in its release. Toshiba won the contract for the 10 MW project back in 2019 with a planned start for March 2021.
PLTP Small Scale Dieng is Indonesia’s first small-scale generator which had been targeted to operate commercially by the end of 2020. With the plant GeoDipa will increase its electricity production supply by 130 MW. This additional supply is the fulfillment of GeoDipa’s obligation to develop the Dieng area contract up to 400 MW.
GeoDipa’s Director of Commercial Operations and Development, Dodi Herman, explained that a small scale project with a capacity of 10 MW can be a pilot for small-scale geothermal power plants in other areas.
