Siemens Gamesa and Ørsted extend US partnership to onshore wind

Siemens Gamesa will supply Ørsted with onshore turbines in the US for the first time under a new agreement for a wind farm in Nebraska.

It will supply 51 SG 5.0-145 turbines for the Danish developer’s 298MW Haystack Haystack (298MW) OnshoreWayne County, Nebraska, USA, North America Click to see full details wind farm. It will provide a further 18 turbines – in the 2MW range – that have secured safe harbour status – meaning the project is deemed to have started construction and so is eligible for support under the US’s production tax credit (PTC) scheme.

The manufacturer will also service the wind farm for 30 years – the longest term Siemens Gamesa has been contracted for in North America.

It will begin to deliver turbines for Haystack in summer 2021, ahead of commissioning in the fourth quarter.

Siemens Gamesa had previously supplied Ørsted with offshore turbines for its US Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind pilot project, but has not provided the Danish developer with onshore turbines before.
