IGC Invest Geothermal takes place this year in an online format due to the current circumstances with the first event this year that took place September 17, 2020 with a focus on Germany. With a focus on Europe this year, the next event will focus on geothermal development in Switzerland, France, and Croatia.
Government, association and industry representatives discuss the legal framework and funding mechanisms and present projects in their countries as well as investment opportunities.
The event will take place on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 14:00 to 17:30 (CEST). For the full program click here.
Starting with Switzerland at 14:00 / 2pm, Nicole Lupi from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy and Christian Minnig from the Federal Office of Topography will discuss the most interesting funding mechanisms in Europe and present an underground model. Torsten Rosenboom from Watson Farley & Williams will moderate the session on Switzerland.
Afterwards at 15:00/ 3pm, the President of the French Geothermal Association AFPG, Jean-Jacques Graff, will present projects and potentials in France. Thomas Rabbain from Watson Farley & Williams discusses the legal framework and Caroline Guion and Nicolas Moneyron from Engie present the Geomarne project and the corresponding acceptance measures. Marit Brommer from the International Geothermal Association will moderate this session.
Croatia is certainly a very interesting geothermal market. With the 17 MW Ciglena electricity project, the country immediately made a leap into the top 10 European geothermal electricity generation countries. But the country’s potential promises further projects with temperatures of over 150 degrees C. There have just been tenders for further geothermal concessions.
at 16:30/ 4:30pm Marijan Krpan from the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency will talk about the considerable geothermal potential and the newly created legal framework. The Ciglena project itself and other interesting projects will be presented by Dragutin Domitrovic from Calida Aqua. He helped develop the project. The third session will be moderated by Dr. Jochen Schneider from Enerchange.
Further information about the countries can be found in the presentation on IGC Invest Geothermal in the Focus on Geothermal and on the website, where you can also register.
Watson Farley & Williams law firm is sponsoring the event.
