Energy Disrupter

DEME Offshore’s cable laying vessel Living Stone has started the first inter-array cable installation campaign at the 950 MW Moray East wind farm offshore Scotland.

SeaMade offshore windfarm will integrate two wind sites known as Mermaid and Seastar. The 235MW Mermaid site is located 54km off the coast of Belgium, at a water depth of approximately 40m. The 252MW Seastar site is located 40km away from the shore, at a depth of 38m. The windfarm will feature 58 SG 8.0-167DD 8MW wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. The Mermaid site will feature 28 turbines, while the remaining 30 will be installed at the Seastar site.

The wind farm will feature 100 66 kV inter-array cables and two offshore substation interconnector cables supplied by JDR Cable System.

The installation campaign will be carried out in three phases. The first campaign started at the end of  September and will continue for eight weeks.

DEME Offshore is also the EPCI contractor for the wind farm’s turbine foundations and three offshore substation foundations, as well as for the transport and installation of the OTMs.
