Vestas picks new North American and Mediterranean leaders

Energy Disrupter

Vestas has appointed new leaders for its North American and Mediterranean business units as its long-term North American president leaves the company.

It has appointed Eduardo Medina – formerly head of Vestas Mediterrannean – as president of its North American division.

Medina replaces Chris Brown, who had led Vestas North America since 2012, and who is leaving to pursue his own enterprise, the manufacturer explained.

Meanwhile, Javier Rodriguez Diez, formerly the senior vice president for the manufacturer’s global sales and key account management, will replace Medina as president of Vestas Mediterranean.

Medina is expected to relocate to the US once the country’s coronavirus-related immigration restrictions allow, and will remain in Spain until then.

He joins Vestas North America as wind power enters a new phase in the United States. Demand will increasingly be driven by wind energy’s cost-competitiveness due to the phase-out of the production tax credit (PTC), and states are looking to address the climate crisis.

Both appointments are effective today (14 September).
