Google Nest smart thermostats on sale: $50 off at Home Depot – Mashable
TL;DR: As of September 14, select Nest smart thermostats are $50 off at Home Depot.
If you’d like to decrease your home’s energy usage, a smart thermostat is a great way to start.
Google’s Nest smart thermostats gather information on your schedule and temperature preferences so you can take a hands-off approach to heating and cooling your home. If you’re rarely on the top floor of your home during the day, for example, it doesn’t make sense to blast the heat up there. That’s the sort of issue the thermostat will help solve — plus, it’ll save you a chunk of money on your energy bill if you play your cards right. (We’re not sure why, but when testing these links internally, certain people saw different prices than others. If you don’t see these prices, try a different device.)
The Google Nest Learning Thermostat is the classic Nest model in its most recent iteration. As of September 14, it’s $199 at Home Depot, a 20% discount on its MSRP of $249. It’s not on sale in every color, but you can buy it for the discounted rate in black, polished steel, stainless steel, and white.
Don’t forget the temperature sensors, which are sold separately.
The Nest Thermostat E is functionally pretty similar to the Nest Learning Thermostat, but there are a few key differences. First, the Thermostat E does not have Farsight, a feature on the original model that lights up the thermostat’s face when it detects your presence in the room. It’s also made of frosted white polycarbonate (a type of synthetic plastic) instead of metal, which partially explains why it runs cheaper even when it’s not on sale.
As of September 14, you can snag it at Home Depot for $119, 20% off its MSRP of $169.
